John "Four Leaf" Tayback's costume with screen-matched vest and Tugg Speedman's screen-matched vest from Paramount Pictures' Tropic Thunder. Acting as consultant for the production as the writer of the fictional source material, Tayback wore his costume while he provided insight to green director Damien Cockburn as he attempted to make a movie with an unruly cast. In reality, Tayback served in the Coast Guard as part of Sanitation Services. The distressing at the "arrowhead" seams at the front of the Four Leaf's vest, as well as unique folds, match to the opening sequence of the film. Tugg's vest matches to the scenes where he argued with Lazarus and the others as they reached the wrong river, based on the fold and creases across the front of it due to wear from the equipment straps. This costume consists of one beret hand-marked "Four Leaf" on the interior tag, a leather vest hand-marked "4 Leaf" on the interior, a shirt, a pair of jeans hand-marked "4 Leaf" on the interior tag, and a pair of boots labeled "4Leaf." This costume features various military pins and in-memorandum patches that helped sell Tayback's initial story including: a United States Army Special Forces De Oppresso Liber pin, an 82nd Airborne Division pin, a "Death Card" spade pin, US MARINE CORPS 1ST RECON pin, a US 101st Airborne Eagle pin, Military Assistance Command Vietnam Studies & Observations Group (MACV-SOG) pin, a POW MIA You Are Not Forgotten pin, a US flag pin, an 82nd Airborne Division patch, a U.S Army 1st Cavalry Division patch, United States Army Special Forces De Oppresso Liber patch, a Special Forces "Mess with The Best" patch, a United States Army 24th Infantry Division Armed Forces patch, a 1st Infantry Division Vietnam patch, a POW MIA You Are Not Forgotten patch, an In Memory Patch Vietnam 1959-1975 patch, a 1968 Tet Offensive Survivor patch, a Vietnam Veteran Service Dragon patch, a Vietnam War Vet patch, and two Vietnam Veteran patches. The padded vest is hand-marked "hero Speedman" on the interior. This lot exhibits smudged ink and pulled threads.
