Artwork hand-painted by renowned background artist and animator Todd Winter for a poster from the promotion of Eric Radomski and Bruce Timm's Batman: Mask of the Phantasm along with two poster prints. In the film, new vigilante Phantasm (Stacy Keach) targeted and murdered mob bosses in Gotham City, then pinned the crimes on Batman (Kevin Conroy).
Mask of the Phantasm remains the first and only film of the DC Animated Universe to receive a theatrical release, earning a prestigious Annie Award® nomination for Best Animated Film. This lot originates from a Warner Bros. Animation crew member.
The artwork depicting Batman and Phantasm before the Gotham City skyline is rendered, dated "93," and signed by Winter in mixed media, including airbrushing and colored pencil, on foam-backed illustration board. It is applied with an acetate overlay along with a Warner Bros. Animation sticker.
Also included are two rarely-seen, foam-backed glossy laser-print posters created for the promotional campaign, both of which are headlined "America's most exciting and legendary motion picture hero." The set shows evidence of wear consistent with handling and age, including adhesive loss throughout. Dimensions: (largest) 10" x 16" (25.5 cm x 40.75 cm)
Sold without copyright; see notice in the Buyer's Guide.
