John Hammond's (Richard Attenborough) Pulsar V336-7040 watch and stone ring from Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park. Hammond, the visionary founder of Jurassic Park, wore jewelry inset with matching stones throughout the film, including when he first introduced himself to Doctors Alan Grant (Sam Neill) and Ellie Satler (Laura Dern) as well as when he boarded a helicopter to escape the destroyed park during in film's finale.
Hammond's distinctive accessories served as manifestations of his obsession with ancient life, as well as colorful accents for his signature amber-tipped cane. The role is today considered Attenborough's most famous, and one he later reprised in Spielberg's The Lost World as well as multiple video game spinoffs.
Among the most pioneering films in cinema history, Jurassic Park grossed more $914 million in its original theatrical release and became one of the 1990s most imitated films. This lot consists of a nonfunctional watch designed and branded to resemble a real-world Pulsar V336-7040 with a stainless steel case, quartz face, and synthetic semi-precious gemstones inset along its gold-plated band, as well as a faux gold metal ring inset with a matching synthetic gemstone. The watch is labeled "MY018" and engraved with serial number "790825" on its underside. It shows evidence of wear consistent with on-set use, handling, and age, including a broken band tied with twine.
