Legendary actor Clayton Moore's hat band for personal appearances as his signature character, The Lone Ranger. The Lone Ranger proved so popular as a radio show that it was made into the classic George W. Trendle and Fran Striker television series, becoming ABC's first hit. Moore made more than 170 appearances as the do-gooder in the series and two feature films. In 2005, Moore was nominated for a TV Land Award® for Favorite Crimestopper for his performances.
In the years after the series, Moore appeared at numerous promotional events in costume as the masked hero, forever cementing his association with the beloved character. This bespoke, one-of-a-kind hatband was custom-crafted for Moore's personal appearances by legendary Hollywood silversmith Edward H. Bohlin, whose saddles, gun rigs, silverwork, and leather craftsmanship defined the golden age of Western cinema. Bohlin famously created the original gun belts and Silver's tack for The Lone Ranger. Today, Bohlin's work ranks among the most sought-after and collectible examples of Western Americana.
This distinctive hatband originates from the personal collection of Moore's daughter, Dawn Moore. It is made from Sterling Silver with 11 14k gold-plated flowers throughout, including a 14k gold-plated "M" on the buckle, and detailed with ruby gems in the flowers. It shows an attractive patina, evidence of Moore wearing it regularly over his final years and a demonstration of its value within his personal wardrobe.
Additional Provenance: Letter of Authenticity signed by Dawn Moore.
