A light-up replica of The Terminator's (Arnold Schwarzenegger) battle-damaged head from James Cameron's Terminator 2: Judgment Day with an animatronic endoskull. In the film's climactic finale, the T-800's endoskull was increasingly exposed during his fight to protect Sarah (Linda Hamilton) and John Connor (Edward Furlong) from the more sophisticated T-1000 (Robert Patrick).
This ornately detailed head was created by legendary effects company Stan Winston Studio, whose founder and namesake won an Academy Award® for his team's groundbreaking special visual and makeup effects, and originates from Planet Hollywood. The metalized resin endoskull is believed to have been originally made for the production of Judgment Day, as evidenced by the sophistication of the animatronics housed within it, then salvaged after filming for display at a Planet Hollywood location. The electronics are designed to enable both up-to-down and left-to-right movement on the head, in addition to illuminating the endoskull's red LED eye.
While the T-800 endoskulls created for the film featured foam latex skin, this example features cast silicone skin which is not designed to properly match the head's mechanical elements. The skin is hand-painted to appear bullet-riddled, blood-stained, and scarred with one acrylic human-style eye inset. The head is dressed with a synthetic brown lace wig on top, mirroring the film-used versions created by Stan Winston Studio, and affixed with matching synthetic eyebrows and eyelashes on a lace base.
The head comes mounted to a custom metal and wood display base. It has undergone sympathetic restoration to repair and reattach the lace-wig hair and scalp, and restore electronic functionality with a custom battery-pack-powered control box with switches for operating the head's electronics. The lot shows evidence of wear consistent with handling and age. Dimensions: (head) 10" x 12.5 " x 14" (25.5 cm x 31.75 cm x 35.5 cm)
