Four concept sketches of the Taylor family at war hand-drawn by renowned production illustrator Martin A. Kline for Robert Zemeckis' Forrest Gump. In the film, Forrest Gump (Tom Hanks) explained that he felt "real lucky" to serve in Vietnam under Lt. Dan Taylor (Gary Sinise) over a montage depicting Taylor's ancestors dying "in every single American war."
Forrest Gump was nominated for 13 Academy Awards®, including for Sinise, and won six, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor for Hanks' performance as Gump. It is often ranked among the best films ever made, earning it a place in the Library of Congress' National Film Registry in 2011.
This set originates from a crew member. The concept sketches depict Taylors dying at Valley Forge in 1770, at Gettysburg in 1863, at the Marne in 1910, and at Normandie Beach in 1944, each with annotations describing the location as well as the manner of death, such as "Sabre Cut" for Gettysburg and "Mustard Gas" for the Marne. The set is rendered, signed, and dated "93" by Kline in graphite on vellum. The vellum shows evidence throughout of minor edge wear from handling. Dimensions: (largest) 17" x 11" (43.25 cm x 28 cm)
Sold without copyright; see notice in the Buyer's Guide.
