Miki Herman began her professional career as a volunteer for the American Film Institute (AFI) in 1975. Through her connections at AFI, she was hired by the burgeoning Lucasfilm to help fill out Christmas cards for producer Gary Kurtz, becoming one of its earliest employees in the process. By late 1976, Herman had joined the production of George Lucas' Star Wars: A New Hope as a production assistant on second unit photography in Death Valley, where she helped in the shooting of the Mos Eisley Cantina sequence. Herman swiftly became an integral staff member at the company, rising first to Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) production coordinator for The Empire Strikes Back, then to unit production manager for Return of the Jedi. In the early-1980s, she oversaw Lucasfilm's first entries into television, serving as an executive producer on such projects as the Ewoks and Droids series before leaving the company later that decade. Over the course of her 10 years with Lucasfilm, Herman maintained a vast, personal archive of materials - including production bibles, behind-the-scenes paperwork, and budgetary details - rarely seen by the general public until today. Propstore is proud to offer this distinctive selection of memorabilia from the peerless Miki Herman Collection for the first time.
