Val Kilmer's personal revised fifth draft script with a pair of handwritten script notes from the production of George P. Cosmatos' Tombstone. In the film, the actor played Doc Holliday, the close friend of Wyatt Earp (Kurt Russell) and one of the shooters at the legendary O.K. Corral gunfight. Kilmer's portrayal of the legendary gunslinger - a role today considered among his finest, in part thanks to his signature line, "I'm your huckleberry" - earned him dual MTV Movie Award® nominations for Best Male Performance and Most Desirable Male.
Upon release, Tombstone famously eclipsed its direct competitor, Lawrence Kasdan's Wyatt Earp, to become among the highest-grossing Westerns of all time. It is today recognized as a modern masterpiece in the storied genre, with surviving memorabilia from its notoriously challenging Arizona shoot extremely scarce.
This 109-page fifth draft script, the "Yellow" revision dated "24 June 1993," originates from the collection of Val Kilmer. It is labeled "Property of Tombstone Productions, Inc." on its cover and held together with a plastic-and-metal clip. The script faetures eight pages with handwritten annotations, and also includes two pages of Kilmer's personal notes on the script handwritten in ink in his signature script. The notes offer rare insight into the actor's Juilliard-trained process, with such comments under the section "Doc Lines/Doc Things" as "hard enough to hill ya & sorry enough to charge ya" on one page and under the section "Observations" as "The settling down part bugs Doc" on the other. They show evidence of wear, including minor stains and tears, consistent with use, handling, and age, as does the script. Dimensions: (largest) 11" x 8.5" x 0.5" (28 cm x 21.75 cm x 1.5 cm)
Additional Provenance: Letter of Authenticity signed by Kilmer.
Estimate: $1,500 - 3,000
