Nick "Goose" Bradshaw's (Anthony Edwards) Navy dress shirt from Tony Scott's Top Gun. LTJG Goose, Pete "Maverick" Mitchell's (Tom Cruise) radar intercept officer (RIO) and loyal wingman, wore his short-sleeve dress shirt when he and Maverick were dressed down by CDR Mike "Viper" Metcalf (Tom Skerritt) for flying irresponsibly low during their first training hop, as well as when they dismissively sat for a lecture at Top Gun.
Goose and his fellow officers' costumes were designed by the four-person team of Wingate Jones Jr., John Napolitano, Bobbie Read, and James W. Tyson based on real-world Navy uniforms. Goose is today recognized as Emmy®-winner Anthony Edwards' signature film character.
The highest-grossing film of 1986, Top Gun won an Academy Award® (out of four nominations), a Golden Globe®, and a Grammy®. In 2015, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress, as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". A critically acclaimed and massively successful sequel, Top Gun: Maverick, was released in 2022.
This polyester blend Weintraub Bros. Patriot short-sleeve button-up dress shirt (stamped size "M") is hand-marked "Goose" and "Goose 1" on its interior. It features metal rank pins pinned to each side of the collar, as well as rank bars and a naval wings pin on the chest. The shirt shows evidence of wear consistent with on-set use, handling, and age, including minor stains.
Estimate: $2,000 - 4,000
